詞語用法

adj.(形容詞)

1、both用作形容詞時,作“兩個,倆”解,只用作定語,是前位限定詞,常與復數名詞連用。

2、both用作形容詞與定冠詞、指示代詞、形容詞性物主代詞、名詞所有格等限定詞連用時，應置于其前，而不能置于其后。

3、在both之后接名詞時用不用定冠詞均可。both用作形容詞時不用于比較等級。

4、both用作代詞時可作主語、賓語和同位語。

5、both作同位語時，一般用在助動詞、系詞之后,實義動詞之前;但為了強調,both也可置于助動詞或系詞之前,如一個句子中,既有助動詞又有系動詞時,可用在助動詞后,系動詞之前。但是不能緊放在代詞前。

6、both與復數名詞連用時,若該名詞前有the,these或物主代詞,其前用both或both of均可,當both跟who或人稱代詞搭配時只能用both of。

BOTH用法

1. both用法

1）adj.兩者

一般單獨修飾名詞（復數）做前置定語（但名詞前不能有其他限定詞修飾），不做表語/補足語。

如：There are many flowers on both sides of the street.

2）pron.兩者

可以單獨使用（相當于名詞），也可以構成“both of+其他限定詞+名詞（復數）”或“both of+代詞”結構。

Both are my good friends.

Both of the boys over there are my good friends.

Both of them are my good friends.

3）adv.兩者都

一般放在句中，即be動詞之后/前均可，助動詞/情態(tài)動詞/行為動詞之前。

They are both my classmates.

They both can play soccer well.

They both have a good son.

4）conj.不僅...而且...；...和...都...

一般構成both...and...結構，用于連接句中任意兩個并列部分。

如果并列兩個主語，謂語動詞一般采用復數形式。

如：Both you and I are students.

I can speak both English and Chinese.

They can both sing and dance.

The boy is so lazy that he sleeps both in the daytime and at night.

2. neither...nor...既不...也不...

其用法類似于both...and...，即用于連接兩個并列成分。

如果連接主語時，謂語動詞的數采用就近原則。

如：Neither he nor his parents are at home.

She is neither Chinese nor Japanese.

Both可作形容詞、代詞或副詞用，意思是“兩個”、“雙方”、“兩個都”。在句中可作主語、賓語或同位語。

Both可參與構成名詞詞組，也可和動詞連用，還可與and構成并列連詞。在使用時，要注意下列幾點:

一、Both和both

of后都可接復數名詞，構成名詞詞組。但Both后的名詞前可有定冠詞、指示代詞或物主代詞作修飾限定，也可沒有;both

1.和謂語動詞連用時，both應放在

both的用法和位置如下：

用法：

1、both與名詞、代詞連用。

（1）both+(of)+the/物主代詞/指示代詞+名詞

（2）both直接修飾名詞時，不加of。

（3）在人稱代詞前一定要用both of，不能說both we或both us，但可以說us both，them both等。

2、both與動詞連用。

當both在句中作主語的同位語時，也可與動詞連用，both在句中的位置有以下兩種情況：

（1）放在是動詞be之后。

（2）放在行為動詞前。

3、both作代詞時，可單獨使用，其后不接名詞。

both表示兩者都…是個副詞，也可以做代詞，例：

副詞：We are both students.

代詞：Both of us are students.

它的否定形式是neither，詞性和both一樣，例：

副詞：We are neither student.注意是單數名詞。

代詞：Neither of us IS a student.同樣注意也是單數。

位置：

1、一般在放在動詞be，情態(tài)動詞和助動詞之后，實義動詞之前。

2、作定語時后跟名詞復數。
